Bill Dunlap and I are working on a series of drawings - mostly acrylic ink and watercolor. They are 19" x 14" on a heavy arches paper.
Three are done. Two days ago, Bill sent me images of four more. There's a swell interplay between my stodginess and his luminous excess. You can see all of them here.
More soon on the project....btw this is my favorite at the moment.
First pieces of a new collaboration between Bill Dunlap and myself. I'm really lucky to work with Dunlap - as you can see he is amazing.
If, for some reason, you are one of the eight people who do not read c-monster, then I need to tell you that I am the image for today's digest. Now, get over there.
Another artist's playlist - this one from Lisa Solomon. Some musicians she listened to while working on her piece for SJMoA's "Robots" show.
Oh, yeah, and here's the video.
California Dreaming -- a group show wherein nine artists (including myself) comment on living in and thinking about the Golden State -- runs April 4-27, 2008 at Rare Device. Curated by The Beholder's Suzanne
Shade.
I'll be at the reception (April 4) from 6-730ish. Hope you will too.
Can't wait? Can't make it? See the slideshow of my three featured works right now.
So I was in a show last year with Bill Dunlap. One of my pieces was hung beside one of his, which was totally cool because his drawing was way better than mine. Making mine, by default, look better.
We've since traded pieces (though not the ones in the show).
A few days ago, Bill sent me this jpeg of how my piece fits in nicely with his - creating a sort of rugged alterpiece. Pretty great, huh? (Oh, yeah, my drawing is the wordy one with the naked straights, in the middle.)
