This just in.

SFMOMA has a blog. That’s right, SFMOMA has a blog.

No kidding SFMOMA has a blog.

When you think you about it, SFMOMA should have had a blog years ago. But its probably best not to think that way at all because then you start noticing all the other things the museum is behind the ball on.

The blog is in BETA and today is only second day of posts, but one thing is obvious – the museum blog POV is not behind the times. As a matter of fact it fits perfectly into today’s corporate zeitgeist. The one that cannibalizes that which makes fun of it, attempting to create a new kind of hip.

Today’s entry is an interview with Lou Huang, a designer who two years ago in a tongue-in-cheek gesture planted himself in SFMOMA as a piece of art (kinda like a Duane Hansen) and filmed it.

Intervene in our space. We can take it. We’re not stodgy. We are web 2.0.

Snarkiness aside, obviously the blog is way too young to receive any real criticism. And kudos should be given to SFMOMA for finally getting with it.

The whole project is being handled by Suzanne Stein, a magnificent poet (and full disclosure: my former gallerist), so have high expectations. No need to cross your finger - if anyone can keep it alive over there, it would be Stein.
